If you haven't found any simple examples for the 16F690 yet then you should probably tell us what language you're using (C, BASIC, Assembler) and perhaps we can come up with an example for you. For BLDC motors the commutation control is handled by electronics. We'll have a future article on how to use your Electric Skateboard Motor in sensored mode if you choose too. However, setting up with sensors is a more difficult task so this section is skipped in this tutorial. ![]() The strength of the magnetic field determines the torque and speed of the motor. Choosing to use sensors with your setup will allow your start up to be smoother than BLDC mode. Unfortunately, I don't have the option of an external oscillator so I am forced to use the internal one. The most elementary commutation driving method used for BLDC motors is an on-off scheme: A coil is either conducting (in one or the other direction) or not conducting. ![]() ![]() ![]() I'm still unsure how all of this is tied together.
